Celebrate Life

Enrich the lives of your residents, patients and staff

When faced with the loss of a loved one residing in a senior care facility or retirement home, friends and caregivers often miss the opportunity to pay their final respects because attending the remembrance service entails leaving the facility and traveling to a funeral home.  This is particularly challenging for friends with mobility issues or caregivers unable to leave the care facility because of work.

When faced with loss during pregnancy, childbirth, or in the post-partum period, it can be extremely painful for new parents to have to visit a funeral home to make funeral arrangements. It can be a time of intense sorrow for parents and of physical pain for a new mother. Remember Network provides meaningful services to parents in the comfort of their chosen environments (hospital, private residences) – not funeral homes. We developed a model that would bring essential services to them – emulating the midwifery model of care of informed choice, autonomy, dignity, and care in the privacy of their home if they so choose.

Remember Network creates flexible and inclusive on-site remembrance services that are both meaningful and free of stress for family and friends, as well as caregivers. With Remember Network’s services everyone involved benefits:

  • Caregivers are able to pay their respects and gain closure without the need to be away from their charges.
  • Meaningful services are accessible to more vulnerable members of the community in the comfort of their chosen environments – particularly bereaved parents, frail elders, and hospice residents
  • Friends, particularly those with mobility issues, will be able to attend the service without having to travel off site.
  • Family will be gratified that more of their loved one’s friends are able to attend the remembrance service.  What’s more, because Remember Network’s licensed Funeral Directors provide what is essentially a mobile service, our services cost substantially less than those of funeral homes that need to maintain buildings and a fleet of vehicles.
  • The facility wherein the services are held benefits because their caregivers’ and residents’ lives are enriched through participation in of life’s important rituals.  Remember Network also returns a portion of revenue generated to the seniors’ care facility to help fund legacy workshops and grief-related initiatives.

Our Commitment

•  We provide a meaningful and stress-free event for residents, patients, their families and caregivers

•  We come to your facility, or other location, so transportation and mobility is never an issue

•  Our inclusive service allows those closest to the departed an opportunity to participate in a memorable way.

•  As a single resource, we assist activity professionals, chaplains, family and residents in reaching a common goal, thus saving time and money

•  Our services provide professional caregivers the tools to create a supportive environment resulting in workplace wellness

*A portion of the revenues generated is returned to your facility to fund various legacy workshops, and grief-related initiatives.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS

Remember Network partners with groups and organizations to promote research and raise awareness about important grief-related issues, such as how elders grieve and how communities benefit by engaging in remembering outside of funeral homes. Our partners include: social and health agencies; community organizations; educational agencies; and government.

Working within the network of community hospitals, wellness centres, midwifery practices, long term care, retirement, assisted living, and hospice facilities across Toronto, the GTA, Northumberland County and Durham Region makes us a sought-after partner when organizations want to raise public awareness. Working with them enables Remember Network to provide not only their patients, residents and families with an alternative solution to remembering loved-ones in a cost-effective way, but also provides them with on-site grief resources that help create healthier work environments for their patients, residents and staff.

FUNDRAISING

As a caring organization, Remember Network aims to help many charitable groups every year through helping families direct their donations to causes that were of importance to their loved ones, giving a portion of our revenue back to the care home in the form of workshops or to their foundations, and collecting items such as eyeglasses and clothing that can be donated to people in need.
